Santos midfielder Paulo Henrique Ganso has spoken of his delight at Santos' hard-fought victory in Peru, against an unpredictable opponent.
Ganso, 22, was crucial to Santos win, turning in one of his best performances this season to deliver a message to his doubters.
"The game was complicated," said the much sought-after playmaker. "Not only was the pitch poor, but we did not know the rival team either.
"Still, we play the same way everywhere. We were compact and learned to use the ball well.
"After ten minutes, we let the shackles-off and got the victory. I am pleased to have helped the team."
With a win over the Peruvian side secured, Ganso's attention immediately turned immediately to Sunday's clássico with São Paulo.
"We gained an important victory here and now we must focus on the derby. We want to top the table (in the Paulista championship). Let us be strong for this derby."
